In our day to day lives, we accept tensions, stress, fears as our permanent members of our mind. We take them everywhere carrying them everytime.

Although we know these members are temporary, they become reality of our minds. They tend to change our attitude, personality, life habits, etc.

What happens is that whenever a new event arrives we connect it with our earlier events. It is right as it helps to tackle many situations. But every experience is a collection of individual experiences. So many experiences are left when we go to our past events.

We in our thoughts, live in past or future. Then these thoughts disappear our existence from this moving real world. This is a major cause for misery. It is because all your opportunities are vanished.

If I tell you in one line life is all about awareness Now let us dive into this line. This line and it's meaning is too simple to understand. But it is an ocean of most of our good qualities.

So first of all what is awareness? Ya we all know that it is how much consciousness we attain. But are we really conscious? Maybe. But many are not.

As I have said it is too easy to understand. So the extent of our usage of awareness decides our connection to the present moment. Although it is free and too popular we ignore it. 

Awareness is within everyone and it runs in background but we cover it by other tools commonly named thoughts.

Mind you awareness never comes by controlling thoughts. If we try to control thoughts it would develop anger and frustration withing us. 

Let me clear it that there is a huge difference between awareness and alertness. Alertness is something with which you pay attention to things and think about them. But awareness is knowing your existence. It comes automatically if the chit-chat in your head is stopped.

Awareness can never be our asset for a longtime when we forcefully try to acquire it. It is a peaceful and steady asset which comes slowly balancing our whole life.




What Are Ways To Make Awareness An Asset?

Mindfulness Meditation:

 It is a basic meditation for those who do not get time to invest it in a sitting meditation.

This meditation can be done anywhere and anytime. In this we ask a question to ourselves-
"What am I doing right now?".  This one question has capacity to change your life. 

Just ask this question in your mind over and over from time to time. Practice doing one action at a time and do it mindfully. When you are struck by your thoughts just ask that question. Preferred after every half an hour.

This question suddenly opens our mind. We again become aware of our surroundings and ourselves. Just believe that you are aware and after asking the question just try to observe your thoughts and not flow with them.

It takes time to make awareness your asset but it is an easy procedure. It can also be done by anyone who is a beginner or not comfortable with other meditation postures and procedures.



Breathing Mediation:

It is a practice for anyone who can sit in one position for 10-15 minutes. When ready, sit with a cross legged position comfortably on the floor with a cushion beneath your hips. The backbone must be erect.

If not possible one can sit on a chair with feet touching the ground. Here also backbone must be erect and should not lean on the chair.

When ready close the eyes and take 5 slow and deep breaths. It will start relaxing your body. Then slowly bring the focus on your breath. Feel the air passing in and out. 

If you cannot maintain these sensations then count the breaths when exhaling. It will help maintaining focus on the breath.

Although it is a simple meditation but it is a base for most of the meditations. This process can give unexpected sensations when done properly.

 

Sound Meditation:

It is a procedure which not only de-stresses the mind but also increases observational skills. This procedure also involves breathing meditation. So you must understand breathing mediation too. Time given to it must be 10-15 minutes 

In this tool we sit in a comfortable position, cross legged when on floor or feet on floor when sitting on chair. Backbone must be erect.
 
Then simply prepare yourself by taking deep breaths for few minutes. It will relax your body. 

Then close your eyes and simply listen to the sounds surrounding you. You do not have to think what the sound is simply listen to the sound. No understanding and thinking is required just sit and listen.

Let me tell you that benefits of  making awareness an asset are infinite. A person can never go beyond his limited knowledge and this awareness will lead you above that limit.

Still some benefits are peace of mind, no fears, no shyness, no anger, increased intuition, more love, unlimited happiness, increased focus, harmonious relations,..........and many more.
